I use the vessel and natural forms to explore the profound emotional archeology of the family. This includes notions of belonging or fitting in. And the realisation that our deepest connections with our family don't end when we are physically parted from them, whether through adoption or death.

I use porcelain as it is clay that is transformed, through firing, from fragility to uncommon strength. This expresses how the vulnerability we feel when connecting deeply with another person is transformed into memories that are enduring and precious.

My source material includes the studio pottery of Lucie Rie and Rupert Spira. The forms and glazes reflect the natural world, the intensified imagery of Technicolor films, and my experience of living on a Mediterranean island.
