My work is dark and I think fairly serious. I want to convey the complexity of industry and the decline and heritage of the working landscape. I find grace and beauty in their integrity and utility. They weren’t built to look nice. Close up they are a mess, and that is unintentionally reflected in my work. I am attracted to the landscape and to the livelihoods of honest hard, manual work. The constructions that are so strong and powerful, are also fragile, temporary and poignant.
