The Waterfront Gallery supports established and emerging artists working across mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography. Situated in Milford Marina, at the Old Sail Loft on Discovery Quay, it overlooks the busy scene of the Marina with its’ boats and fishing vessels. The Waterfront Gallery is considered one of Wales’ most progressive gallery spaces, which, as well as promoting local talent by offering internships to school and college leavers, is shortly to exhibit international work as part of its’ Wales Contemporary competition and exhibition programme for 2019-20. We envisage this international programme will become a biennial festival of two and three-dimensional art.
The gallery is well worth a visit and on the Marina itself there is a museum, a variety of shops and eateries and plenty to see, so why not make a day of it. Housed in the same building as the gallery is Coco’s, a very attractive and welcoming restaurant serving excellent food, which is always popular with our visitors. We are close to the train station and to bus services and for those who drive there is plenty of free parking.
For those visitors exploring Wales’ Coastal Way just a short hop from its’ southern reach will bring them to Milford Haven, the Dale peninsula and the Haven waterway, the second largest natural harbour in the world, in and around which magical undiscovered coves, inlets and beaches can be found.
The Waterfront Gallery
The Old Sail loft
In the gallery you will find a superb collection of fine art, mixed media, photography, textiles, sculptures and bronzes. 2019 saw the start of our open international competition ‘Wales Contemporary’ which we hope to continue each year, with the first exhibition of selected works taking place between 7th and 29th October before travelling to the Mall Galleries, London. Exhibitions are held throughout the year with contributions from our own resident artists and visiting artists.
Waterfront Gallery Crafts
4 Agamemnon House
Waterfront Gallery Crafts displays the innovation, diversity and variety of the work produced by our craft artists, offering ceramics, papier mache, jewellery, glass, bronze, metal and woodwork. We also have a selection of prints, cards and books.
BY BUS & FOOT
There is a selection of bus transport to be enjoyed with coastal services such as ‘The Puffin Shuttle’. Boat trips can be enjoyed from Milford Marina itself as can holiday lettings. Milford Haven is on the Pembrokeshire stretch of the Wales coastal path which runs through Milford Docks and Marina and where a convenient pause can be enjoyed for a drink or a meal, or even some retail therapy.
Getting to us by train is another option given Milford Haven station is just 200 yards from the Gallery and Milford Docks Marina, as are the local bus connections.
To get to us by car, the A40 from Carmarthen brings you to Haverfordwest just 7 miles away, or an alternative route from Carmarthen can be taken by leaving the A40 at St.Clears and taking the A477 to Pembroke Dock which takes you over the Cleddau Bridge to Milford Haven. There is ample parking on Discovery Quay where the Gallery can be found.
Please be aware there are parking restrictions directly by the Craft Gallery at Agamemnon House, but there is still free parking nearby.
