Nia McKeown – The Mandarin Plant

This painting of the mandarin plant was produced over two sessions. I enjoyed how the warm evening light moved quickly across the kitchen surface, illuminating the plant and the wall behind.

I explore a wide range of subjects, including landscapes and interiors, with a constant focus on the interplay between light and colour. Painting ‘en plein air’ adds a dynamic quality, letting me depict scenes in their natural state. I draw inspiration from everyday life, aiming to capture its essence in my work.
