The random arrangement and distortion of the windows is my memory reflecting that I was always in motion, passing by all the different buildings. A bit like a speeded-up film. I can’t seem to get them out of my head.
My inspiration -the windows in the mix of 4 and 5 storey buildings backing on to Castle Car Park, Haverfordwest; Georgian, Victorian, Elizabethan, modern-day, and botched jobs – in different states of repair, forming an irregular terrace, a very tall, long wall of odd, different shaped windows, some from the neighbouring streets overlooking them together with the background views from my first floor flat in the centre of town, all combining in my subconscious.
It’s about capturing the atmosphere and essence of the place coming from a spontaneous reaction to the physical.
